unanswered question

Parshat Ki Tisa

The Torah in 34: 18-26 goes from warning about throwing the nations out of the Land of Israel to other topics, such as the holiday of Pesach, then redeeming the firstborn calf and sheep, korban pesach, bikkurim, not working on shabbos, the holidays of shavuos and sukkos, not eating meat and milk together, etc..

What is the connection between all these things? Did it just select random laws to mention here? How does it lead from one to the other?

If you have an answer, leave it in the comments

On the surface nearly all these things have to do with "time."

o WHEN you come to the land of Israel keep yourself distinc.
o Keep 7 DAYS of Pesach.
o Six DAYS you shall work and keep the 7th day separate.
o Chag ha-Shavuot, i.e., WEEKS.
o 3 TIMES a year you shall present your mails before Hashem.
o No one will covet your land WHEN you come for the festivals.
o You shall not slaughter the korban pesach WHILE you have chametz
o You shell not let the korban stay OVERNIGHT.
o The FIRST of your fruit you shall bring....

Not sure how a couple of items here (such as Basar-be-Chalav) are related to Time, though...

Incidentally the first mitzvah given to the Jews as a nation was to start keeping track of time and sanctifying the new moon. A slave has no control over his/her schedule/time. Neither did the Jews in Egypt. But once they came out, G-D has bestowed upon them the privilege of keeping track of time (and indeed sanctifying it.)
